Match Preview: Rodgers returns to the Bridge and the great Defender hunt

By 5 o' clock on Saturday we would've played six games with three of the top four played away already but Chelsea holds some extra incentive for the team.

The third trip away to one of the big four comes as a return to two of the most important men at the club; Brendan Rodgers and Scott Sinclair. It was at Stamford Bridge that Rodgers' first managed Sinclair in the reserve squad, but they'll be hoping to haunt their former employers on Saturday.

Match Report: Swansea 3 - 0 West Brom

The duck has finally been broken and with it Scott Sinclair was cemented into the history books, becoming the first player to score a Premier League goal for the club.

It was a particularly emotional day at the Liberty, with the game being preceded by a minute's tribute to the four Gleision Colliery victims and the late Malachy Rodgers but the Swansea faithful were loud and proud throughout the match.

Match Report: Arsenal 1 - 0 Swansea

From the outside, Arsenal's one-nil victory against the Swans would be seen as a good performance from a newly promoted side against a top four team, however from the inside it was an opportunity for lost for the Swans.

Previous to kick off news broke out about the unfortunate passing of Brendan Rodgers' father Malachy. Understandably Brendan made the trip back home to be with his family, which prompted the ever dependable duo Curtis and Pascoe to take the reigns at the Emirates.

Match Preview: Can Swansea Resist The Arsenal Backlash?

Both ourselves and Arsenal have been lauded for our styles of play with each team gaining a higher echelon of respect by being compared to Barcelona's style of Tiki Taka style of play and Saturday will see the teams face each other for the first time in over 18 years.

The timing of the fixture could either lead us to be rabbits in the headlights or it could be a blessing in disguise. On one hand Arsenal will be wanting to prove the critics wrong after their humiliating 8-2 defeat to Manchester United and that backlash could be at our expense, but for every cloud there is a silver lining.

International Focus: Taylor impresses and Jazz's U21 squad suffer defeat

The second game of the September international break saw seven Swansea players called up for international duty with five of the seven completing 90 minutes on the field.

Wales' senior squad were unlucky to not gain a point against England at Wembley and the U21 squad suffered a 3-1 defeat after a second half assault away to Montenegro. The final fixture featuring talent from South Wales was in Helsinki, where Holland secured qualification against Iceland.

International Focus: Why is Joe Allen Overlooked?

Last Friday the Welsh national team recorded an impressive 2-1 victory over previously unbeaten Montenegro in their European Championships Qualification match. Whilst two Swansea players, Ashley Williams and Neil Taylor, played the full 90 minutes, the third Swans player had to make do with observing from the sidelines.

The question is, why does Joe Allen feature so infrequently for the Welsh squad? He is often called up in the named 26-man squad, however his appearance on the pitch is rarely from the start and only occasionally being brought on as a sub in the final stages of the match.
